Provides a variety of services for individuals with developmental disabilities including A Better Chance program a licensed adult residential home in Contra Costa County, supported living services, a nonpublic school for students, ages 6 to 22 with autism and other developmental disabilities who have been unable to thrive in public schools, a community integrated training program for adults offering community life skills opportunities and entry level vocational training opportunities. A Better Chance Industries operates a work activity program called Custom Assembly & Packaging giving clients work at jobs that provide packaging, labeling, and assembly services to other businesses and a supported employment program available to those who work off-site at various businesses. Offers daily adult educational opportunities as well as supportive employment programs which provide work activity opportunities.

Description
Provides a vocational, behavioral program specializing in serving consumers who have in other entry level vocational programs. The program starts with an emphasis on hospitality and entertainment. When consumers feel safe and stimulated, they are open to learning. In overcoming their developmental disabilities, consumers represent the full range of functional and adaptive levels. For some, training may entail acquiring skills in self-control, communication, self-care, cooking and shopping, etc. For others, the focus may be on learning to operate a computer or cash register in preparation for independent employment. Training modalities include delivering Meals on Wheels, janitorial work at a neighborhood pizza restaurant, landscaping at a national park, detailing vehicles, and production work. A Better Chance (ABC) Day Program includes numerous opportunities for social and personal development. The program is supported by the by Regional Center of the East Bay and Golden Gate Regional Center.

Description
Provides three licensed adult group homes which serve a total of 18 residents up to 59 years of age. Each home has a personality of its own, reflecting the interests and needs of our residents. Residents learn daily living skills and successful social behavior in an environment which fosters and reflects an appreciation of individual diversity. The homes reflect the belief that the physical environment has a profound effect on the psychological environment, which in turn influences how well individuals perform.

Description
Provides job training and placement for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. The goal of our program is to introduce consumers into competitive employment. The program provides a full range of services which enable people with disabilities to access and succeed in competitive employment. The program goal is to provide full access to employment through the provision of individual support services for people who have historically been excluded from employment. The services have a four step process: assessment, job development, pre-vocation, and job coaching.

Offers consumers of Golden Gate Regional Center and the Regional Center of the East Bay personalized supports in their own homes or apartments. Specific supports are tailored to the individual's particular needs and interests with staff working with the consumer to develop a "Circle of Support," consisting of the individual, family members, friends, and associates.

Operates A Better Chance Work Activity Program (ABC WAP), a community-based organization with funding provided by the Regional Center of the East Bay and the California Department of Rehabilitation. The program, with 55 consumers with a consumer to staff ratio of 15 to 1, is designed to provide consumers with vocational skills and paid work experience that will enable them to work productively and independently.
