Safety Advisories
Programs that issue orders that temporarily restrict outdoor burning when hot, dry and windy conditions create an increased risk of wildfires. Also included are burning bans that are issued when winter weather conditions are especially cold and still contributing to increased air pollution from particulate matter. This type of burning ban prohibits both indoor and outdoor burning unless a fireplace or wood stove is a person's only source of heat.
Programs that issue bulletins to update the public about appliances, clothing, electronics, electrical power devices, furniture, household products, lighting/lighter products, sports/exercise equipment, toys and other consumer products that are subject to voluntary or mandatory recall or about which safety concerns have been registered. Safe handing information may be provided in situations where a product reported to be a safety hazard may still be for sale or in consumers' homes.
Programs that issue bulletins or otherwise inform the public of occurrences that may constitute a public health emergency. Public health advisories may also include safety instructions for people who are likely to be affected by the situation.
Programs that issue bulletins to update the public about the flow of traffic on the roads and freeways. The reports pinpoint the location of traffic accidents, disabled vehicles, construction and other problems that are causing stoppage or slowing on the freeways; estimate clearance time; and suggest alternate routes for travelers. Also included are programs that provide information about traffic conditions in response to specific requests.
