Private tutors teach reading, writing and speaking English. The lesson starts at whatever level the English learner is at and takes consideration of individual goals. Both tutor and student set meeting times convenient for both. Students who are in need of computers, phones and on-line technology may receive assistance in order to enhance the learning process. All learning is completely confidential. Volunteers participate in a training program, commit to volunteer about 1-2 hours/week, must be able to read, write, and speak English well. Literacy Council Produces a newsletter, distributes brochures and has speakers available.

Description
Offers tutor volunteer opportunities for English speaking adults who would like to help ESL (English as a second language) adults in the community to read, write and speak English. The DVLC workshop provides training, teaching materials (a nominal fee) plus ongoing support to those who complete the 2-day workshop. DVLC produces a quarterly newsletter and get-together events throughout the year. Tutor training workshops are held twice a year in the spring and in the fall.

Eligibility
English speakers age 18+. Must commit to 1-2 hours per week.
Fees
$20 registration fee followed by a minimal annual membership fee.
Intake Procedure
Call or visit website to register. Must attend a 2-day training workshop.
