Description:

Provides shelter for Contra Costa homeless families (men and women) WITH dependent children. Shelter is located at various churches; locations rotate from Orinda on the west to Danville on the south to Antioch on the East/North. Shelter will open September 27, 2021 thru June 13, 2022, with strict guidelines to follow the current shelter in place order for Covid-19, see service for details. Safe parking lot program runs June 1, 2021 thru February 2022 and able to accommodate 10 cars per night.

Description

Provides couples, families, or individuals living in their vehicles, a safe parking lot to park nightly. Clients will be enrolled in the winter night rotating shelter which includes VISPATS, assistance and referrals for permanent shelter, access to the church's restrooms and a breakfast program. Client will have access to the Oasis Day Program for showers which is located at St Vincent de Paul's in Pittsburg. Clients who visit the Oasis are able to work on job resumes and applications, and housing program applications. Safe parking lot program runs June 1, 2021 thru February 2022 and able to accommodate 10 cars per night.

Phone: Monday- Friday, 10am - 4pm; Saturday-Sunday, 24 hour answering machine; Parking hours: 8pm - 6am

Valid identification for client. Vehicle registration is not a requirement.

Eligibility

Contra Costa resident, families or individuals willing to work toward self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Returning families who have previously stayed at Winter Nights may contact shelter intake line; acceptance is up to the discretion of Program Manager and Director.

Shelter will open September 27, 2021 thru June 13, 2022, with strict guidelines to follow the current shelter in place order for Covid-19, see intake and eligibility for details. Stay at each church will be for 30 days instead of the customary 2 weeks. Social distancing guidelines must be followed. Tutors and case managers available to clients staying at shelter.

    Eligibility

    Contra Costa resident, one or two parent families with dependent children and willing to work toward self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Returning families who have previously stayed at Winter Nights may contact shelter intake line; acceptance is up to the discretion of Program Manager and Director.

    Intake Procedure

    Call for location and availability of space. Probationary period of 30 days and re-evaluation of families demonstrating to work towards self-sufficiency will be completed. Families who do not meet these requirements will be asked to leave the shelter. Clients will be required to have a COVID test before entering the program.
