Voluntary Isolation Centers

Taxonomy Code: JP-1500.9300

Programs that provide free, private accommodation for eligible individuals to temporarily self isolate, to protect themselves and the community in a health crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Primarily for people who have been newly infected, and particularly people who are homeless, the centers may also welcome individuals at significant risk of infection from someone they share their home with (for example those in multigenerational households or living together in small spaces). Accommodation is usually in unoccupied hotel buildings. Residents remain alone in their room the entire duration of their stay, provided with meals, fresh linen and public health guidance.
