Child Abuse Prevention

Description

Conducts Mandated Reporter Training to professionals and paraprofessionals working with children. The training covers signs, symptoms, and compliance with the CA Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Also presents to parents and the public about various topics related to child abuse awareness and prevention. Training is geared towards the needs of the group.

Office: Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm; and by appointment.

    Directory/Resource List Publication

    Description

    Produces and distributes "Surviving Parenthood", a resource directory of information and support services in Contra Costa County. The Baby Bag Project, which distributes tote bags filled with information for new parents to participating facilities and home visiting groups throughout Contra Costa County. Any person or organization can also request the baby bag.

      Parenting Skills Classes

      Description

      Offers Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP) an evidence based, voluntary parent education program that supports parents from the Strengthening Families Approach and Protective Factors Framework to prevent child abuse and neglect. Classes are available to parents with special needs children as well.
