Description:
Administers programs: CTAP, California Telephone Assistance Program, and CRS, California Relay System and Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program. CTAP has a variety of telephone equipment available for individuals who are hard of hearing, deaf, speech impaired, or other disability. If an individual needs any type of teletype service (TTY/TDD), the CRS connects the assistive telephone to the relay system. 711 can be used as a shortcut to CRS. Discount on phone service available to disabled individuals.

Eligibility
California resident who is temporarily or permanently: deaf/deafened, hard of hearing, cognitive, mobility, blind/low vision or speech, are eligible to receive equipment.

Intake Procedure
Call for information or download application online. Must have application authorized by certifying agent; medical doctor, a licensed audiologist, a licensed optometrist, a qualified state agency, licensed physician assistant, licensed speech-language pathologist or a hearing aid dispenser.
